• When coming across this design of shoe..  I was not only short of breath from excitement at how badly I wanted a pair of these…(yes, the price tag will also need you to grab for your inhaler), I was jealous that I hadnt thought of the idea first… to collaborate the face of a skull with the back of high heel. Pure brilliance. Pure Style. Pure Fashion.

• Not only is Kermit a shoe designer but a raw and indulgent ladies fashion designer with cutting edge designs, they are made with the sense of ART and GENIUS!…..Ohhhh and how could i forget.. all readers of Vogue would know,  Kermit also is a designer of the ‘heel-less HIGH HEEL’ .. yep, you heard me … just take a look !

• In a short interview with Kermit we find out about how a young man from the Phillippines has come so far.

• Despite being such a fantastic artist through your designs, how did you come up with such great ideas?
• I simply gravitate towards my dark tendencies and use any kind of materials, even from bubble wrap to high grade resin. I have the polar opposite’s sensibility of pulling together the simplicity and the complexity of the design I’m rooting for.

• What methods do you use for inspiration?
• My methods usually disrupt when I work with a different design. I usually design according to what kind of collection I’m brewing.
• I think the most beautiful part is having the struggle of brainstorming in isolation, and suddenly there’s a moment that everything falls into place, and then you start working on it without any limitations in mind.

• How long have you been designing for now?
• I have been designing clothes and shoes since 2005.

• When will your new range be coming out ?
• It will be this year. I’m actually working on it.

• Are you going to be stocking in Australia any time soon ?
• If there’s a boutique or a shop in Australia who’s up for it, why not! (HEAR THAT LADIES!)

FASHION S.O.S !!

• We can’t help it, being judgemental is part of human nature. Our brain is programmed to laugh when you see some misguided woman in her mid 50’s walking past in pink denim overalls, rainbow blouse with green pointy heels and a matching purse (poor thing thinks she’s got it right with the matching accessories)…

• BUT… What do you do when it’s the ones closest to you? Your very own friends? Eeeek!!

• We all have one, that girl in your circle of friends that has ZERO FASHION SENSE and when I say zero, I mean she still wears that stripy Supre boobtube we all had in year 7.
• This is where you as a friend have to come in and save the day!

• Picture this- Your about to hit the town and all your friends are coming round your place for pre-drinks before you hit up the dance floor and party the night away. The door bell rings and your extra sweet and gorgeous friend walks in with an electric blue satin dress with diamante studded hearts and white strappy heels to the knee….
• 
  
• MAJOR LOL.

• You and your other girlfriends stare at each other in shock, do you be a good friend and tell her that she looks like ‘Yeta’ from the Nanny? Or do you not hurt her feelings and let her express her style the way she pleases?

• It’s a tough one, she will either get really upset and go back home to change, make everyone late and ruin the night OR she will just think you’re a bitch and still ruin everyone’s night with her poor attitude, even though she has a right to be angry. Catch 22 you see?

• So, here are a few tips to let her down easy!!! Without having to accidently tip your red wine on her from laughter.

• 1.“Hun, didn’t (Insert a girl’s name you both don’t like here) wear that a few weeks ago? She might think your copying her” - you may also want to insert a fake laugh here

(Expected answer: “Really, oh my god, I so can’t wear this then, maybe I can borrow something of yours?”)

• 2.“Oh my gosh, where is that dress from, I saw it in LOWES/BIG W/HOT DOLLAR,  people may think you got it for $5 … you cannot wear that, honestly”

(This may seem a bit harsh and depending on her financial abilities this is a tough one, but she will automatically think that the thought of other people thinking she is a tightass will make her want to change, then offer something from your wardrobe for her to borrow)

• 3. Time for reverse psychology – “Maybe, you should save that outfit for something else, it doesn’t really suit where we are going, don’t you reckon?”

(Expected answer: “Really, but what else am I going to wear?” this is her cue, for you to offer her something to borrow since you have now made her feel insecure)

• 4.This is the last option, but if the outfit is THAT tragic and none of these lines work, then do the good ole’ trip and slip. With your drink purposely aimed at her direction.

DON’T FAKE IT.

If there is one thing that really gets under my skin, its knock-offs, fakes, BOGUS, PHONEY, CHEAP AND NASTY REPLICAS! Ok. Phheww sorry, had to get that out. The last thing you want to be seen in, is that $49.95 version of Sass & Bide’s last season best seller.

Child exploitation overseas aside, Fashion is an art, the original is breath taking and screams of fine quality and style. Designers take months to come up with unique and exquisite pieces for their label, which you then purchase for an OUTRAGEOUS price and most probably wear once, like I do… har har

...and then about a month or so after you’ve bought it, you see a highly intoxicated 17 year old covered in spew (i’ve seen it with my own eyes, though not all of you are like that!) running through the Cross with her ‘fake’ ID  and her ‘fake’  dress trying to get into The Bank. (GRRRRRRRRRRR). You then begin to squeal and stomp  (just kidding) but you genuinely get really angry that your $500 dress is at your local Asian store for 10 times less than what you paid for!

It’s even more annoying when, well, its hard for me to say this.. but when the dresses are  ACTUALLY a good copy ( Of course after it sells out, the design is made in every print possible). If I knew nothing about designers or was that spew covered lil 17 year old in the Cross, then hell yeah! I would buy it too.

I would like to give an example, it may cause a bit of a stir, because, well saying so … a lot of girls bought the copy and wore it proudly (and many did still look sexy in it), but the thing that bothers me is that 150 girls were also wearing it, on the same night, and yes, even in the same club.

The thing that agitates me is that we shouldn’t be supporting theft. Imagine it was your label that you worked so hard for, that’s being multi-produced in bulk to be sold at dirt cheap prices, especially when it‘s Australian designers.

But business is business, so what can you do. The International Chamber of Commerce has estimated that the counterfeit industry makes up about 7% of all world trade and is worth an estimated $600 billion, as stated in this month’s Cosmo.

Remember this ?  Of course, you do. This design was $720 at Sass & Bide, and only $59.95 at Hipster, AND you really couldn’t tell the difference.
